Woolly Bear Parkway Trail

mosquito heaven

May, 2024 by branden86401

Trail was all grass and tall at some points. Me and my 2 kids got bit up super bad though by mosquitoes. Spiders webs and mosquitoes are horrible.

Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Bikeway

Back-pedal through time

May, 2024 by brea.denise

The bike path leading to Huffman Prairie offers a scenic journey, albeit with minimal shade, so lather up on sunscreen. Its gentle terrain makes for an easy ride, perfect for cyclists of all levels. As you pedal through, you're reminded of the profound historical connection between bicycles and the Wright brothers, who honed their flying skills on these very grounds. It's not just a bike path; it's a ride through history.

Great Miami River Trail

Ran this trail twice

May, 2024 by luv_mlb25

I have ran this trail from top to bottom twice. This included the portion that is known as Canal Feeder Trail in Sidney (not labeled on this map, but said to be part of the trail) and also includes the last little bit from Hamilton to Fairfield.

Last year when i ran it, it was labeled as being 99 miles, however, this year they have it marked as being 87 miles...not sure where the other 12 miles went from the year before...but I measured it out to be 95.72 miles. This includes any and all spurs or any branches off from the main trail. Canal feeder trail is 4.66 miles (this includes the whole trail, across Vandemark Rd where the trail extends and dead ends in the woods with no place to go but back to the Vandemark Rd parking lot). Then starting at Swift Run in Piqua and ending at Trenton (including Canal Feeder) measures 84.55 miles. The last little bit from Reigart Road in Hamilton to Groh Ln in Fairfield measures 11.17 miles.

I frequently run the portions running from Piqua to Vandalia. This portion is mostly wooded and protected. Once it gets in to Dayton it gets a little tricky with more flood bank runs and city views. The run from Marina Drive to Miami St is a little boring but not as boring as the path from Carmody to Trenton that measures 6.2 miles in distance.

I have this trail broke down in to miles pretty good with landmarks. If anyone ever wants to know distance measures, I'm your gal.

The last leg of the map runs Hamilton to Fairfield, and honestly may be the best part through heavy woods and beautiful landscapes.

Enjoy!

Little Miami Scenic Trail

Days 2 and 4

May, 2024 by jarboe

South out of Xenia this trail deserves a five-star-plus rating. Well maintained, wooded with a river, you will be tempted to ride this forever. We did 60 miles.

North is a little more urban but still a five-star trial. We did 41 miles. Thank you, Xenia!

Creekside Trail

Day 5

Another one of the five great trails out of Xenia. This is a good one to close out a week of riding. Thank you, Xenia!

Wilbur Wright Trail

New section at Mooreland, IN.

April, 2024 by jeffstov

There is a very new section on the Wilbur Wright Trail open between N County Road 625E and N county Road 800 E going through Mooreland . There is another section that is in the process of being cleared to the west of CR 600 E.. Looking forward to the day when I can ride from New castle all the way to Losantville where the Wilbur Wright will connect with the Cardinal Greenway.

Little Miami Scenic Trail

Mostly good

April, 2024 by ken.criss

We rode from Beatty Station near Springfield south to Xenia station on 4/9/2024. We liked the trail just fine. Not too many road crossings, paved, rail trail grades, etc. If headed south, when you get to Xenia be aware that the trail turns right at a street with virtually no signage except for a sign that said Xenia Station .5 straight ahead. So we stayed straight ahead which encompassed the sidewalks of Xenia instead of the actually bike path. Other than that mixup we were happy with the trail. We hope to do the rest of it at a future date.

Archway Trail

Road trip to Indy. Needed a quick run to stretch the legs. Just a few minutes off i70 and just a few minutes to run the 0.6 mile trail. Runs along a main road. Nice "trail". Wouldn't go out of my way for it... But it served it's purpose.

This is a beautiful trail, if you start at the YMCA that first 1.5 mile is deceiving, you hit a bigger than expected incline. Next 1.5 mile has good ups and downs and curves. I think you should start at the end and finish at the YMCA.

Pennsy Trail (IN)

quad or roller skating - perfect

March, 2024 by keepingthepiece

I thoroughly entire skating this trail. There are multiple sports to park and enter the trail. The trail has some uneven places, but is mostly an easy and relatively flat trail. I entered at mile marker 1, skated to the end, turned around and started to the other end, then back to my car. My total was 5.16 miles.

Shirley Heritage Trail

short and sweet

March, 2024 by luv_mlb25

I ran this trail back in September 2023. I planned a trip to Indianapolis but knew I needed to fit in a short run along the way. This was easily accessible off I70 and was just long enough to get a quick mile or two in for the day. Nice pit stop after sitting in a car. The trail was decent, flat, and wide open. No shade, but honestly it's not long enough to really worry about being in the shade for a lengthy period of time. The trail runs along a main road and then circles around the city park. There are benches and plenty of parking. I am not sure of the amenities around town, but there was a gas station. Small town trail but another one marked off the list.
