Cannon Valley Trail

Well Worth The Trip/Price!

May, 2024 by gristow

This user fee supported trail could offer a clinic for trail maintenance given its pristine condition. Excellent paved surface with the exception of the first 4 miles west of Red Wing (given the exposure to the sun). Trail was well-marked with numerous rest stops and some informative signage and trail-side attractions. Several new bridges added to overall enjoyment of the trail. Mostly shaded for 10 miles east of Cannon Falls (beautiful falls running thru the city!). Maintenance was superb and passed several maintenance vehicles (removing a large tree limb blown down from the previous night’s storm and a blower clearing the trail.) One of the prettiest well-maintained trails we have been on and we have been on many!

Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail

trail revamped

May, 2024 by karwal55122

Road along the trail today and it was fabulous through Hopkins and ST Louis Park to the start of MSP. Light rail work being completed and the trail is in excellent condition. It was fun to see the light rail stations along the way.

Cannon Valley Trail

wish I lived closer

May, 2024 by linda.gruetzmacher5

I finally made it to the Cannon Valley Trail, I live 3 hours away. It was beautiful with the river , tree canopy and hills. interesting and multiple rest stops. Some parts aren’t the smoothest but overall it’s in decent shape. I was happy to pay $7 to support its upkeep. What a deal for a good outdoor experience. I rode from the Cannon Falls end to Red Wing and back. Enjoyed the Red Wing waterfront parks/ trail. Found the bike on-ramp for the bridge over the Mississippi. Found an excellent CannonBelles Ice Cream / sandwich shop at the end.

Chaska Ravine Trail

It has its moments

April, 2024 by rmtrsws6g4

This could be a really nice trail. I was trying to connect from the Minnesota Valley Trail to the Lake Minnetonka Trail and thought this would be a nicer ride than taking Jonathan Carver Parkway. Unfortunately, signage is non-existent along this trail and it splits at multiple places so staying on the trail requires a lot of stopping and checking your map. On the positive side, it has a lot of potential and the gravel sections were fun.

Cannon Valley Trail

Expensive trail

April, 2024 by hristo.yankov

$30 season pass or a $7 daily, with a "non-cash surcharge" if you try to pay online. The trail is nice, but the fee is getting out of hand.

Coon Creek Regional Trail

our first ride of 2024

March, 2024 by plyman38

We started our ride at the coon Rapids dam and took it all the way up to Bunker Hills Park. It was one of the more interesting rides of our 1100 mile total so far. I like being close to the river, really pretty sights Lots of turns and slight hills, very easy to maneuver. Perfect first season ride with my buddy. I would recommend this trail to anybody and I’m gonna go on it a few more times at least. We will probably go in different seasons just to see the changing forest around us. Really nice trail. Good quality.

Empire Township Trail

not enough scenery

October, 2023 by ebecher220

I tried this one out because it’s close by but it wasn’t that fun. Too much pavement right on a major road, exhaust fumes etc. the parts with nice scenery between the two parks felt tiny

Ayd Mill Road Trail

Nice, short below grade cut through

October, 2023 by rmtrsws6g4

A good short cut, removed from the traffic. Agree with the other review that it lacks connectivity to a larger trail plan.

Big Rivers Regional Trail

Nice overlooks, but lack of connectivity

October, 2023 by rmtrsws6g4

I took this trail on the tail end of a longer ride and enjoyed some of the views overlooking the Minnesota River. However, I was super disappointed with the lack of any continuation of bike dedicated lanes or paths at the Western end of the trail. It would be nice to have some easier way to get to trails further West without having to ride along the shoulder of a highway.

Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail

Fun gravel ride

October, 2023 by rmtrsws6g4

This has been on my to-do list for a while. Finally did it out-back from Hopkins and it didn’t disappoint. Great views and interesting scenery. The signage could be better around highway 62 and in Chaska, but it’s pretty good elsewhere. Looking forward to riding it again next year!

Grand Rounds Scenic Byway

Grand Round October7th

October, 2023 by pem30913

Delightful day touring 24 miles of Grand Round while visiting family. Friendly encounters with bikers with several places to stop, rest, and relax. The vistas of the Mississippi River balanced the clean and colorful trails.
