Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail

The trail

December, 2016 by scottsub30

Over all I l love this trail except for one minor problem . Why wont Norfolk Virginia Give the city of Columbus that stretch of trail at Hines and Tussing so they can finish the Trail proper? It makes no sense what so ever !!! Complete that area and the trail will be epic

T. J. Evans Trail

Beautiful trail, needs minor maintenance

September, 2016 by kennkiser

Great trail with beautiful scenery & plenty of shade. Smooth surface overall. Numerous access points. A few road crossings in Granville & many roads/driveways between Alexandria & Johnstown. Traffic on SR37 in Granville is very respectful about yielding to the crossing. The following are minor, but... Keep your eyes open for overgrowth along trail edges, large bumps from tree roots under pavement (mainly in Granville area), & 2-3 inch difference in surface elevation at bridges & some tunnels. Surface needs TLC & resealed (except between Granville & Alexandria). RESTROOMS: Playground near OSUN/COTC campuses, restaurants in Newark on Church Street, soccer fields east of Granville (take split in trail near cow pastures - ends at soccer fields), & playground at west side of Granville.

Tri-County Triangle Trail

Recommeded by a friend

September, 2016 by zarzano

A friend I meet on Camp Chase trail recommended the Tri County Triangle trail and we found it to be an interesting ride. We rode it to Frankfort and the old school house and returned to the trail head. Our thoughts are that the covered bridge and Llamas was a good beginning but found the trail to be a bit bumpy and in need of repair.
Lack of rest facilities with accommodations' was a concerned for my female biking partner but all and all we enjoyed the ride much and will ride it again.

Olentangy Trail

Agree with others

September, 2016 by tim_mccarthy

I have to agree with many of the previous comments by others. This is a biking/walking trail along the Olentangy river. Usually fairly busy though not always.
I like it for leisurely walking or biking. You do have to accept the highway noise, however.
I prefer Highbanks Metro Park trails for hiking because of the quiet, the abundance of trees and varying terrain. Highbanks does not have any biking trails but there are the park roadways.
For biking you should go a little further, to Sharon Woods Metro Park.

Olentangy Trail

Finding the NORTH trailhead

September, 2016 by davidv2433

Agree w/previous review that north trailhead is hard to locate by GPS. It is located at the south end of Olentangy Hills shopping center which is located where St Rte 315 turns into the freeway. However, there is still bridge construction going on and the best point to enter the trail now is at Atrium Park. Take 315 south to 161, turn right off the ramp and take a left at next intersection(follow signage). Good surface but very crowded on weekends.

Alum Creek Greenway Trail

Ohio Discovery

September, 2016 by cantoncardsharp

Very well-maintained trail with an assortment of eclectic bridges. Rougher in only a few places but we were able to keep a good pace on most of it. Lots of courteous walkers, bikers & runners. Fairly well marked, lacking in a few places but easy to get back on track.

Camp Chase Trail

Great condition

August, 2016 by prhelt

The trail is in great shape but not much to see along it. The middle section is not on a rail trail but through a park. Pretty good hills in the park just to warn you if you are looking for a flat rail trail. The park was probably the nicest part.

T. J. Evans Panhandle Trail

Flat, well maintained, little traffic

August, 2016 by dareisiger

After reading previous reviews, I wanted to experience this trail for myself. True, there is little scenery changes, other than "the big basket" and some rock walls that provide some shade, but if you just want to get some biking exercise, this trail is perfect.

Alum Creek Greenway Trail

This is a beautiful trail

I have been everywhere on the trail from Otterbein to Three Creeks park, I took the connected Blacklick trail all the way to Blacklick Metro Park.

It's really beautiful across the whole trail.

SOME NEGATIVE THINGS THAT MAKE ME WANT TO GIVE THIS TRAIL A FOUR STAR RATING

--There has been a detour around Capital University for a while (However, it's well marked

--Crossing 5th avenue is a pain

-- The trail was closed at Hayden park, with a sign that said pedestrians prohibited. There were no detour signs.

--Around Easton, the trail gets really bumpy, and the sidewalk into Easton is extremely bumpy, and not good for biking.

HOWEVER, THIS TRAIL IS AWESOME BECAUSE

-- The trail goes under most roads, and bridges are awesome.

--Bridges are awesome and there are about 999 bridges on this trail, of all sorts and sizes

--The trail is fairly well kept, there was no broken glass or anything

--The trail is nice and wide, and beautiful

--The trail connects to a lot of other awesome trails

--Scenery is amazing

-- It's hilly, and curvy in a good way.

Hockhocking Adena Bikeway

Long ride in the woods

July, 2016 by xboballen

Started in Athens behind Aarons. In a few places trail could be better marked, but managed to get out of town. Trail is mostly through deep woods so is nicely shaded, although also means trail is littered in places with twigs and leaves. Nice to be able to ride 20 miles (each way) with no major road crossings. Bicycle pump station at about mile 7; otherwise not a lot to see until you get to Hocking College and Nelsonville.

Fairfield Heritage Trail

Going down hill

July, 2016 by reacher44

I have logged 2300 miles on this path over the past 1.5 yrs. It's what we have available in Lancaster, so be it. But now I am at a point that other paths further away are going to be well worth the drive. The path is not maintained at all and is really degrading. People use the path at every ballpark as their bleachers and make it impossible to pass through and I get the path is for all to enjoy, but it has become an everyday experience path blocking by groups hanging out. But what is driving me to not use this path anymore are the multiple glass bottles being broken on the path. Seems like this is intentional to deter bikes from riding the path. I have had seven tires blown by glass and just bought a new set that was shredded, $80 down the drain. It's a shame because this is quite a challenging course with a lot of undulation and stops, along with some straight stretches to get serious speed going. Oh well, fun while it lasted.

Alum Creek Greenway Trail

Inline Skating

July, 2016 by blackberryminttea

Discovered the greenways very recently when I was looking for a place to get back into skating. Currently am very happy with the Alum Creek Greenway Trail, Northern portion. The pavement is good for skating and usually free of debris, though there are patches of dust/dirt occasionally. There is a major road with traffic cross at Westerville Road and Cooper, watch for the bump-textured ramps.

Don't both going south through the Easton Fields portion of the trail, it is in far worse condition with sections hazardous for skating over. And even if you make it past the field segment, there is then a boardwalk segment that I tried to skate across but could not, and had to turn back.

However, I am so far very pleased with the trail from Morse Road up to Casto Park. I have walked up into the Westerville portions, but not yet skated; road smoothness looked good for skating at least to past Sharon Woods. Will update as I continue to explore.
