So I ran this trail back in August 2023. The pictures submitted here on this site are very inviting, however, not valid. Yes, there is a spiral around the area of the trail, however, it is NOT part of the trail. That being said, I ran the spiral down to what I thought was part of the trail, only to get lost and realize that I had to run back up the spiral to get to the actual trail which then crosses the bridge. The sights, however, are amazing and I can't wait to run this trail again when I return in the fall. Once you get across the bridge and closer to the beach, there is more traffic, so keep your eyes and ears open. Great trail. Lots of sunshine and wide paths and beautiful flowers.
No signs, street crossings are not working! When they are working the cars don’t obey. One has to sometimes get off the bike to push the button to cross the street. Not for kids at all!
City/suburbia paved trail and also on road bike lanes both sides 4 of 10
The trail is nice mostly flat and well marked. I felt very safe riding the entire trail. You will go through a little part of Hoodish area but it’s very short. I recommend the trail and you can catch another trail on the way.
I rode this trail yesterday 03/03/24 and it was amazing. I can’t wait to ride it again.
Perfect trail for families with young children in their bikes
Nice flat trail. Lots of access points and bathrooms, benches, and picnic tables along the way. We didn't see very many people on a Saturday afternoon. We did see a gpher tortoise and black snake. No shade, wear your helmet/hat and sunscreen.
Great walk with wild life and excellent views of the rowing lake.
Did the entire trail (both ends) on quad skates (24 mile total). Amazing surface quality for skating. Lots of cute landmarks especially the old railroad bridges. Very enjoyable…except the random landfill bleh. But lovely trail. Definitely fun for the fellow skaters
We rode this trail yesterday, and really enjoyed it, there really isn’t any place to park at the beginning of trail on the north side. You really have to go to the southern end of the island and use one of the parking areas there. It worked out fine though as it allowed us to also stop over to the beach when we were done. Much of the trail runs through the center of the island and it is nice because it doesn’t immediately border the road. However, it is pretty heavy with golf cart traffic so you have to watch out for the. We saw many Iguanas and a couple of turtles. We also took a little side trip out to a fishing pier where there was an old railroad and lots of people were fishing and then we also took a side trip through one of the neighborhoods at the very north end of the island where there are some very beautiful andexpensive homes.
February 8/24 disappointed!! We stared at Peterson Rd and trail closed ate Rock Creek over pass. Had great lunch at Florida Cracker Trading Company. Hope the trail is not closed at this point too long!
