I’ve ran on this trail many times and like it. But I wish there were a couple porta potties. That’s about my only complaint! Also there’s quite a few mosquitos in the summer, so don’t plan to stop during your run or bike.
Elm Creek has always been a fun place for us to ride and it’s close to where we are. The trails are maintained nicely a lot of variance in wooded to prairie, rides by the water, there are small hills and curves. We don’t see deer a lot but they are out there. We’ve seen them a few times if we want to put on 20 miles that’s just about a loop around. There are many off ramps that will put you into Champlin and Anoka neighborhood trails as well. On the north end there’s a BMX track that seems pretty lengthy. We did a piece of it with our E bikes but it’s not really designed for that and especially not for 70-year-old people on E bikes, but it was an adventure if you add in the playground and the swimming area and the frisbee golf you can easily spend a day out there
We rode from east Medicine Lake Park to Fish Lake Regional Park. Except for a few miles along a noisy 4 lane road it was a pretty trail. Parts of trail appeared to have been recently resurfaced. But other parts were very rough. I missed 1 turn off because of no signage, but was able to get back on track with Trail Link map.
Trail from Clearwater goes approx 11 miles all paved some new in 2025. Saw horses, deer, rabbits
The trail between Luck and Frederic is all loose gravel and rocks. Very soft. Maybe okay for a fat tire bike. May 29, 2025.
Hiked the entire south side and north on the right side of the park. Many different birds calling and singing. Oddly still no peeps from frogs or roads. Found some junk off the horse trail, crew needs to clean it up
We rode from Hinkley to Duluth one day, stayed in Duluth 2 nights then returned back to Hinkley. This trail is very pretty and we appreciated the 2 areas with park pavilions next to the trail that included electricity and bathroom options.
5 minutes into ride got lost ! No signage. City streets are confusing route. Waste of time today.
One of my favorite trails in Twin Cities. I start in Arden Hills at 35W and County I. I ride it till where it connects with Chaminade Golf Course and the Chain of Lakes Trail. Then I take city streets along Centerville lake till it connects with county park which brings you back to COL Trail. Very beautiful mix of country and suburbs. About 26 miles total. Signage not great but if you follow TrailLinks Map it is a piece of cake!
I rollerbladed the trail and parts of it were really bad, so I took neighborhood streets and parts of it were amazing and very well maintained. The views were really pretty. I would recommend it.
We started at the west end of this trail where it connects to the Central Lakes Trail and rode east about 6 miles. Trail has recently been repaved, so it was SMOOTH!!! Wish we had not done the last 10 miles of bumpy Central Lakes as we were tired and it was middle of the day and quite warm. There is little shade at the west end of the trail and no water available, so bring plenty. The trail was recently repaved - the dirt has not been built up on the sides, so be careful you don't run off the edge - it will be a BUMP! Wish we had the energy to go farther!
