The 19th Annual Pumpkinvine Bike Ride will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018. This non-competitive bike ride is considered by many cyclists to be a unique and memorable tour through scenic, rural countryside surrounding Goshen, Middlebury and Shipshewana in north central Indiana. Participants will roll past working Amish farms, pastures, creeks and communities - some even get to cycle alongside horses and buggies. Registration is now open at http://ride.pumpkinvine.org/. Doors open for check-in at 7:00am EDT on June 16. Start times for the ride range between 7:00am until 10:30am EDT. Riders can choose from four basic routes - a 22 or 37-mile ride along the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail, or a 50 or 100-mile ride on county roads and the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. All routes begin and end at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen. Cold cut sandwiches will be served at lunchtime and locally produced pie and ice cream will be served at the end of the ride. There will also be roving support and gear (SAGs) provided along the course. Individuals interested in participating in the Pumpkinvine Bike Ride are encouraged to sign up early. For those who register by Wednesday, May 16, the fee is $30 per cyclist. After May 16, the fee will increase to $50 per cyclist. After June 11 the fee will increase again to $65 per cyclist. Children 13 and under are free (those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). There are no refunds after May 16. Onsite registration will be available on June 16. All proceeds from the ride are used to build and maintain the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. Complementing the Saturday ride, is a ride to an Amish-cooked Thresher’s Dinner on Friday, June 15. Participants will meet at Woodlawn AM Church, 62861 County Road 41, six miles east of Goshen at 4:30 p.m. and will then bike 10 miles to an Amish home for a family-style meal. Space is limited to 100 bicyclists, and they must be able to cycle for one hour at 10mph. The cost for this dinner is $30 per person. Riders must register for the Saturday ride to participate in this dinner ride. The dinner menu is available on the bike ride website. For more information about the event or how to get involved, go to http://ride.pumpkinvine.org/.
