3 sessions: October 28, 9am - 4pm at Machetanz Elementary, November 1, 7am -9am Matanuska Experimental Farm, November 10, Noon-5pm Machetanz Elementary, Join regional educator Sierra Doherty and special guest speakers (including live birds) as they explore how to connect students to birds and their natural environment. Educators will learn how to lead field trips into the Palmer Hay Flats State Game Refuge with activities and focus, how students can learn bird identification by ear, engage students in citizen science projects and field investigations as well as hear from ADFG researchers on their various projects and data on birds. This professional development workshop is a 500 level course through UAA using the Alaska Wildlife Curriculum, Project WILD and Flying WILD. This is a fun, place based workshop to help you connect and engage your students with their local environment!
