Located slightly north of downtown Baltimore, Druid Hill Park is one of the oldest parks in the United States. Today the park is home to the Maryland Zoo (previously known as the Baltimore Zoo), Druid Lake, Boat Lake, Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens, greenhouses, athletic fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a disc golf course, playgrounds, picnic areas and pavilions, a Zen garden, a nature play space, a swimming pool, a Baltimore City Farm, open fields, wooded areas, and lots more.
The Jones Falls Trail, one of the Baltimore region’s premier urban trails, winds its way through the park. The Lakeside Loop Trail meanders around the Druid Reservoir and multiple other pathways stretch throughout the park.
The southern endpoint of the Stony Run Trail is located at the southern end of Wyman Park, just a block from Druid Hill Park. Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park and the 19-mile Gwynns Falls Trail are slightly southwest of Druid Hill Park. Both the Jones Falls Trail and the Gwynns Falls Trail are part of the Baltimore Greenway Trails Network, a Rails-to-Trails Conservancy TrailNation project to create a 35-mile network of trails that will connect more than 75 neighborhoods in Baltimore City. Other nearby parks include Woodberry Park, Roosevelt Park, and Greenspring Avenue Park.
