Trinity Trails Reviews

love it!

I love this trail. I bike, walk my dog and run here. Very clean and safe with beautiful views of the city

Trinity River Tour

Had a great time on the Trinity River Trail. I road from Benbrook (SW) and was able to connect easily. Only issue I had was that the map shows the trail extending North past 23rd and that does not seem to exist. I spoke with a woman who works as a guard out there and she agreed that there was nothing north of 23rd.

Rockwood Park Dr trailhead

heads up! this trail along the Trinity to Airspace Falls is mostly gravel, so if you're riding a road bike - can be a bit more challenging! The serenity at the Falls made the trip worth it for me! :)

Map needs updating

The city of Fort Worth has done a few million dollars worth of improvements connecting trails and upgrading other's.

This Trail Has It All

Anchored in the heart of Fort Worth and extending out along the branches and tributaries of the Trinity River, this trail has a little bit of everything. In places it looks very much like a trail running through a big city, while in others it runs through trees so thick you can't see around the next bend. In places, it is flat, while in others you may find yourself gearing down to go over the hill. And if it still isn't difficult enough, you need not go more than a block from the trail to find some streets with sharp inclines. Take Taylor Street into downtown, or Ranier Ct instead of going through Foster Park. But if you want to be a tourist in Fort Worth, its hard to beat taking off down the Trinity Trail on a bicycle. Most of the things you want to see are within a few blocks of the trail, and some, like the Stockyards, are right on the trail. You don't even have to own a bicycle. Fort Worth has installed bicycle rental kiosks along the trail. Some of the bicycle shops in the area will rent bicycles for longer rides. Even though I live seven miles from the nearest trail entrance, I enjoy riding the trail on those days when my normal route is filled with kids playing in the street.

Fort Worth Trinty River Project

Ive been riding and walking trinity park most of my life, and each year it gets better and better. I love the progress of the project and the direction its going. I road the new trail from Trinity park to my grandmothers house over off Riverside drive and 4th street across the trinity 10 miles one way. Beautiful ride along the river, lot of things in the back of the trail that I never knew was there like a little lake/pond where it looks like they do boat tricks or some sort of show. cant wait till they finish the trail, hope one day I will be able to ride it all the way to Dallas ;-)

Feels like Heaven

I feel like I am in Heaven when I ride the Trinity River Trails. I have been riding for at least 30 years from Houston to Boston to North Carolina to Dallas and this trail is the Best!

Trinity River

Great!

Art Cowsen Trailhead in Benbrook - beware!

I have ridden the Trinity Trail about three times per week for the last two years - usually from Art Cowsen to Trinity Park (10 miles - one way.) I had a window busted out of my vehicle in July 2013 and I see new piles of glass in the parking lot almost weekly. It is probably okay to leave a vehicle there early in the morning or later in the afternoon as there are a fair number of people using the trail. However, you should avoid the middle of the day if there aren't others around. I returned to the trailhead at noon to find my window broken out and a few easily reached items stolen. Smash and grab seems to be the preferred method of the crooks so don't leave anything visible through your windows.

Do not ride the south side of river

One of my fav trails. There is an area where some restaurants r on the trail and is congested. I almost ran over a kid who had a parent without a brain and wasn't watching her! Make sure you cross over at the end of the trail and you will come out by liberty Chappell church-cross the street and ride through the nice hood and you'll pick up the trail that takes u thr a wooded park- very cool. We always start at the trail head at Taylor street.

Trinity Trails...Paradise Found on the Trails

The eastbound trek of the trail was great; it runs parallel to the Trinity River and is a mixture of gravel and asphalt and/or gravel and cement. We stayed on the northern part of the trail (by chance) and where able to ride our bikes all the way into downtown Fort Worth (we stopped across from the Pier One Building).

We encountered quite a few joggers and fellow bikers along the way, and noticed quite a bit of construction going on, not only along the path (major renovations occurring) but also quite a bit of condo construction going on also. The path led us path both the Fort Worth Zoo and Botanical Gardens and into the downtown Fort Worth area. The day we took the trails, none of the water fountains worked, and we had been unprepared for the distance that we were biking, we found a hotel and a restaurant that were gracious enough to fill up our water bottles. That made things a lot more comfortable for the returning ride home.

In summary, we had a great time!! Next time we take the trails; I will bring a back pack and have a water bladder along with some healthy snacks. I am looking forward to riding the trails extensively in the fall and take our little ones along for the ride in our step one trailer.

All the best...
JM

By far the best trail anywhere in Texas

It's the honest truth. You cannot get any better than a trail that is accessible at points throughout the city an intersecting at the downtown area. I live in River Oaks by NAS JRB and ride this trail throughout the week. It's nice to have a trail that you can ride to the downtown area without ever having to cross heavy traffic. The only downside of the trail is that there is no lights along the trail. So once it gets dark it gets really dark.
I have a CHL and carry a handgun on my rides since I got used to that when I lived in Houston. Since I been here I have not had to use it and these trails seem very safe and free from crime. The trail is absolutely beautiful and very well kept. The wildlife that runs along the length of the Trinity is abundant and colorful with a variety of birds and small creatures (squirrels, raccoons, jackrabbits)...I see ducks all the time and the cool thing is that they vary in species. Also seen some swans and a few storks from time to time. As you ride more often, you begin to see and know the regulars of the trail. I see these two guys on horses almost every time I ride the trail and now we always wave when we pass. It's nice to see that horses are allowed to share the trails with everyone else. The walkers and joggers are also friendly as well. Everyone is courteous and considerate of others on the trail. The trail is a mix of smooth packed limestone and sometimes concrete. A few parts are asphalt. But for the most part it is smooth and you can ride a road bike if that's what you own. I have a road bike with the more thinner tires (Bontrager 700x23) and it's not that rough on it. I see people riding their road bikes all the time out here. I also ride a cross bike which has off road type tires and it's just as well. The spring time thru the summer is the best time to ride the trail since the foliage is blooming and varieties of flowers and even bluebonnets are growing along the river banks. I see kayaks once in a while on the river. The best part is that it's not congested with traffic like White Rock lake is and I like it that way. I challenge anyone out there to prove there is a better trail in Texas.

Trinity Trail Fort Worth

The Trinity Trail in Fort Worth is one of the best places I ever ran when I lived in Texas, I drove all the way from Arlington after work just to run there. It's quiet and full of wildlife. This was back in the 1980's I don't know how much it changed on the trail since then, but I parked on a side street right off of University drive where they had a paddle boat and bike rental place, and that business is no longer there. I ran from University Drive down to highway 183 & back on the trail. One time I had to race a fast moving storm to get back to my truck before the storm hit and I made it back with about 5 minutes to spair. Since 1990 I now live in Columbus, Ohio and the trails here are not as nice as the Trinity trail and the weather is colder. I can't run as well in colder weather..

Warm Sunday morning ride

"Peddled from Trinity Park to N.Main St and return. Sunny & warm Aug 13,2006. Excellent trail."

Easy biking on paved trails...

We parked at the free soccer field parking (follow signs off University Drive to the Ft. Worth Zoo...soccer field parking is on the right before Zoo entrance)and hopped on the trail at the underpass near the Marriott Residence Inn. We biked half the trail easily -- out to Benbrook and back -- as the trail is mostly flat with only occasional gentle rises -- great for novice/beginning riders.

Trinity River Trails

We enjoyed the trail during our Texas trip in March 2005. The information suggested parking at Heritage Park in downtown Fort Worth. Problem was that the meters are only 2 HOURS - too short for our ride! Better find another access if you plan to ride longer than 2 hours.

Getting Better All The Time

"The more I ride this trail and explore the off-shoots into quiet neighborhoods, the more I love it. The trail itself is growing and reaching east toward Arlington. Surfaces are being maintained well for cycling."

A Choice of Surface

"A big plus in riding these trails is that you get a choice of using the concrete trail or the smooth, tightly packed crushed rock trail. Much of the time, they run alongside each other, sometimes intersecting and going off in different directions.

Water fowl in the Trinity River and many interesting downtown buildings are among the things to see while you're riding. The only downside I've experienced is homeless people asking for money while I was stopped on the trail, tryng to deal with a flat tire."
