Located in northwest Tampa, Al Lopez Park has a 1.2-mile asphalt multiuse trail that loops through open fields and woods. Short pathways diverge from the trail loop to connect with the park's various amenities and from the loop's northeast section, a nature trail continues meanders through the woods. The 15-foot-wide trail is smooth, flat, and has overhead lighting. Arcade, a steel and wood pedestrian bridge/art piece by Robert Calvo (1990), is part of the trail's route.
There are two ponds with fishing piers in the center of the park. The park also has picnic shelters, grills, restrooms, fitness stations, a community center, and a dog park. The park's restrooms are located near N Himes Ave, across from New Orleans Ave. The playground and dog park are just west of the restrooms and south of the parking lot. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
The Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART) public transportation system provides easy access to the park. There are multiple bus stops along N Himes Ave, which runs along the east side of the park. Visit the HART website for more information.
Parking is available in the park's very large, paved lot (4810 N Himes Ave, Tampa).
