American Holly Trail Description

Located in southern Delaware's Trap Pond State Park, the American Holly Trail provides a short and scenic alternative to some of the park's longer pathways. Trail users can start their journey from the Baldcypress Nature Center, from which the crushed-stone trail quickly enters into a thick hardwood forest full of loblolly pines, baldcypress trees, and its namesake trees with their distinctive red berries.

The trail crosses over the state park road and loops back toward the north, maintaining the abundant tree cover and flat grade as it comes to a junction with the popular Bob Trail just shy of Trap Pond - continue your hike or ride on that trail to complete a full loop around the pond, or simply head back to the nature center if you've had your fill of recreation in this lovely natural setting.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking and restrooms are available by the Baldcypress Nature Center (closed Mondays and Tuesdays), at the price of the state park entrance fee. The park address is 33587 Baldcypress Lane in Laurel, Delaware, about five miles southeast of the town via Laurel Road.
