Brown Deer Recreational Trail Description

The Brown Deer Recreational Trail runs through the Village of Brown Deer, a suburb of Milwaukee. The tree-line route parallels an active rail line through commercial and residential areas. Mid-way, you can cross the tracks to enter the Village Park.

Although short (only a mile), the paved trail offers great connections between two other trails: the 30-mile Ozaukee Interurban Trail at its northern end (W. County Line Road), and the Oak Leaf Trail at its southern end (W. Brown Deer Road).

Parking and Trail Access

Plentiful parking can be found mid-way in Village Park (4800 West Green Brook Drive).

Brown Deer Recreational Trail Reviews

Oak Leaf > Ozaukee Interurban Connector

Officially part of the Milwaukee County Oak Leaf Trail system, this connector joins the Oak Leaf loop at Brown Deer Park and meets the Ozaukee Interurban Trail seamlessly at County Line Road. Combined with the Oak Leaf’s Lakefront, River Line and Zip Line segments, they provide straight, smooth pavement on railbed between downtown Milwaukee and Cedarburg, and beyond.

Excellent Connector Trail

This little trail provides a smooth connection between the Oak Leaf Trail and the Ozaukee Interurban trail. It is very nice with a good, smooth surface - riding through Browndeer neighborhoods. One can ride miles and miles in Wisconsin without riding on a road!

B.D.R. Trail Lengthened (& connections)

..The trail starts at County Line/CR-Q (That's the southern end of the Ozaukee Inter-Urban Trail.)
It continues south about 4.6 miles. It has parking at Brown Deer city park as well as the Brown Deer county park (and street parking several places along the way.)
..Near the south end it connects to the Milwaukee county Oak Leaf Trail on an old railroad right of way going over the freeway and the Milwaukee river; through Estabrook, Hubbard and Riverside Parks ending up at Veteran' Park on the Lake Michigan shoreline.
..It is paved, smooth and reasonably level (considering it IS going downhill north to south.)

Trail is extended

I got on the trail at Mill Road. It continues South, but I don't know how far. I rode it North to Brown Deer Park. It continued North from there. I know they were extending it this summer, but am not aware of how far they got.
