D & H Canal Towpath Description

Although the D & H Canal Towpath is a short pathway (about 1 mile roundtrip), it offers scenic views of the Delaware and Hudson Canal and the Delaware River in Minisink Ford, New York. You’ll see the old stone canal walls and go under the beautiful Roebling Bridge, a wire cable suspension bridge. A two-story tollhouse, built in the early 1900s, lies on the east side of the bridge and contains a small historical museum. Nearby, you can also explore Minisink Battleground Park, which has walking trails and picnic areas in a historical site of the Revolutionary War.

Parking and Trail Access

Drive about 11 miles on R-97 South from Narrowsburg, NY, or 37 miles on R-97 North from Port Jervis, until you reach the Roebling Bridge. There will be signs and a parking lot, easily visible.
