Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park Description

A contiguous parkland with two names, Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park is the largest urban forest east of the Mississippi and offers a wide variety of recreational activities.

The Gwynns Falls Trail winds through Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park to the Middle Branch Patapsco River and the Inner Harbor. It takes a circuitous route through the park southeast to downtown and includes side spurs into adjacent parks and a connection to the Jones Falls Trail at Baltimore’s famed Inner Harbor. At the northern end of the park, the Windsor Hills Conservation Trail is a dirt trail partially built along on a former streetcar line.

The park offers scenic views, birdwatching, playgrounds, sports fields and courts, community gardens, a nature center (1901 Ridgetop Rd), an Outward Bound Center, a recreation center (4001 Clifton Ave), hiking trails, and a miniature train.

The playgrounds include Leakin Park Playground (1901-1999 Eagle Dr, Baltimore) and Leon Day Playground (1232 N Franklintown Rd, Baltimore). Connected parks include Lyndhurst Park (835 Allendale St, Baltimore), Winans Meadow (4500 N Franklintown Rd, Baltimore), Leon Day Park (1198 N Franklintown Rd, Baltimore), and Gwynn Oak Park (6010 Gwynn Oak Ave, Gwynn Oak). Restrooms are available at Winans Meadow, Leon Day Park, and Carroll Park Golf Course (2100 Washington Blvd, Baltimore).
