North Link Trail Description

The North Link Trail is a 9 mile section of rail-trail which is just one part of an 85-mile loop that winds through the forested hills and valleys of this state forest. Known as the Susquehannock Trail System, it was created by joining together a number of old and new foot trails, logging roads, and abandoned railroad grades originally used by lumber companies in the early to mid 20th century.

North Link Trail Reviews

I have been on the North Link Trail a few times, but mostly in the winter. I think it is one of Pa's gems. I have done it in both directions, from STS and BFT side. It's says it's blazed in "blue" but many of the blazes are red and some yellow. It is mostly old railroad grade, and is not a hard hike. Also have snowshoed it. We did a "New Year's" hike in 2013 starting at Old Bull State park heading south the the South link to the BFT then BFT to North Link back to the STS. Great hike. Although the South Link is very poorly marked. If going from the STS side, look for a sign on the left marked "NLT" after you go through Spook Hollow and pass two DCNR camps headed south. If you are a day hiker or a backpacker I highly recommend this trail.
