Explore one of Atlanta's most iconic parks! Located less than 2 miles north of downtown Atlanta, Piedmont Park is a green oasis in the heart of the city and is conveniently close to a slew of shops, restaurants, local attractions, historic landmarks, entertainment venues, recreational spaces and activities, health facilities, businesses, schools, and residential neighborhoods.
The park itself offers a wide variety of activities and spaces including tennis courts, bocce courts, basketball courts, picnic shelters and pavilions with grills, woodland areas, open meadows, playgrounds, an off-leash dog park, a gazebo, a community center, a splash pad (open year-round), an outdoor gym, and an aquatic center with an outdoor pool. Lake Clara Meer is situated at the center of the park and the Atlanta Botanical Garden is at the northwest side.
Explore Piedmont Park via its collection of paved pathways. The wide, smooth paths are accessible for those using mobility aids and easy for families with strollers to navigate. On shared pathways, bicyclists should always use caution and yield to pedestrians who have the right-of-way. Bike racks are available for those who want to arrive by bike and park. Bike rentals are available at the park through the Relay Bike Share. There are restaurants and food carts scattered around the park. Free wifi is available.
The Atlanta BeltLine, a network of trails around the city, connects the park to numerous neighborhoods throughout Atlanta. The Eastside Trail (Atlanta BeltLine) connects to the park's southeast end at the intersection of 10th Street and Monroe Drive. The Northeast Trail (Atlanta BeltLine) enters the park's northern end near the Piedmont Commons.
Pets on leashes are welcome, and dogs are allowed off-leash in the fenced dog park. There are dog-level water fountains located around the park. The lake, tennis courts, Active Oval, ball fields, and playgrounds are off-limits to pets.
Restrooms are located throughout the park and are open from 8am to 6pm. Locations include the Noguchi Playscape, the Legacy Fountain, the tennis center, the dog park, behind Magnolia Hall, and by the Charles Allen Gate entrance. Water fountains are also located throughout the park. Locations of restrooms and water fountains are marked on the TrailLink map.
Piedmont Park is within easy walking, biking, or rolling distance of downtown Atlanta and the surrounding neighborhoods. There are multiple entrances from the streets around the park--Piedmont Avenue, Monroe Drive and 10th Street. Most popular might be the 12th or 14th Street gates off of Piedmont Avenue, the Charles Allen Gate off of 10th Street, or via the Atlanta BeltLine trails, which provide access to the park from around the city.
Atlanta's public transit system provides access to the park. There are numerous bus stops along the streets that surround the park and there are two subway stations near the park, Midtown Station and Arts Center Station. Visit the MARTA website to plan your trip.
For those driving, there is paid parking at the park's garage accessible on Worchester Drive off of Monroe Rd (1320 Monroe Dr) and at the Atlanta Botanical Garden entrance off of Piedmont Avenue (1345 Piedmont Ave NE). The first 30 minutes are free and the garage is cashless (card payment only).
