Veterans Memorial Bikeway (IN) Description

The Veterans Memorial Bikeway begins in Hebron in northwestern Indiana’s Porter County. From there, it follows the diagonal route of the former Pennsylvania Railroad for just over 8 miles through Lake County. The trail parallels U.S. 231, traversing Leroy, passing under I-65, and ending at the outskirts of Crown Point.

As of summer 2015, a proposal for a memorial honoring Lake County veterans of both World War conflicts is being considered for a 5-acre site near the Crown Point Sportsplex, just north of the trail. The Friends of the Veterans Memorial Parkway, which is spearheading the project, hopes to link the trail to the future memorial.

Veterans Memorial Bikeway (IN) Reviews

Very dissapointed. Like a ghost town, i found traces of asphalt, but mostly impassable. I did see a bulldozer working on a section of trail, so maybe it is being renovated. Hard to be sure as it was a very short work area, maybe a couple hundred yards, and noone there working when i was there.

My husband & I recently moved to Hebron & were excited to have a decent trail near us. Unfortunately, this trail has not been kept up at all & is completely overgrown. I would give 0 stars, but can't.
