Zoar Valley Trail

Apr 2024 - Trail under water from Lock 9 (Before MM82+) to Route 800 (MM86)

April, 2024 by crableg300

Hi

I want to first say, I love this trail and it is a fantastic and quiet place to go for a nice walk or bike ride (11.4 round trip from Ft Laurens to Route 800). I have let some folks know when there are trees / debris on the trail and they are removed quickly. The town of Zoar is a very close by (5 minutes or so away) and I would encourage folks to check it out and also the Wetlands area too which is a hidden gem in the town. Also Ft Laurens (in Bolivar) has a museum and they have a Revolutionary War re-enactment each year that is well done with so many people explaining things too - it is a must to attend. With that said, the trail is under water for the most part from MM82+ to the end at Route 800 because of the recent storms. This is very sad and it will take a long while for the water to recede. A few places to eat that are great are the Canal Street Diner and the Towpath Tavern - they are in Bolivar and that is 5 minutes away from Ft Laurens. Both have great service and good food.

Unless you love climbing steep hills for half the ride then this trail isn’t an enjoyable one unless used for training

Great start. This trail needs to be re-established from Canton down through Beach City and finally to Urichsville !

Ohio to Erie Trail

We did a 8.45 mi round trip between Harvard Rd and Warren Rd overhead bridge. Being in a wheelchair we had no issues whatsoever with the surface of the trail.

County Line Trail (OH)

Nice trail

Nice trail for walking, running, and cycling. On the Saturday morning that I rode this, there were two guys blowing leaves off the trail, so it is being maintained. Be aware that there is about a quarter mile of the route that is off trail and you’re on a country road. The road doesn’t appear to be heavily traveled, though.

Maple Highlands Trail

scenic and very enjoyable to ride

If you like hills back-and-forth from the north end to the south end, this is the trail for you. There are so many things to do off to the side in Middlefield to grab a sandwich grab a hunk of cheese, even to grab yourself some wine and relax for a little bit before you venture back north, you will love this trail. This is absolutely beautiful scenery but a very good work out. Oh yes, do not. I repeat do not forget your bike lock what a piece of mind to know that your precious cargo on two wheels or even your Catrike Dumont that my wife and I have our locked up and nobody will even try to take it.

North Coast Inland Trail (Lorain County)

Very Hilly

September, 2023 by ebhostetler

We rode a short section of the trail from the park on E 31st St in Lorain. We rode north and across the 1000’ bridge. It was very beautiful, but too steep for us 70-somethings on traditional bikes. Most of the other bikers rode e-bikes. Maybe sometime . . .

Sippo Valley Trail

More like a mountain bike than multipurpose trail.

September, 2023 by egeorge

Lovely views but the trail condition as of 9/23 was terrible. Loose gravel throughout, numerous areas of severe pavement heaving, overgrown weeds hanging onto the trail, loose and warped boards on bridges, and a section in Lincoln Park that was unable to be ridden on due to sand and heaving. Numerous intersection are dangerously obscured due to unmaintained sightlines. The entire trail looks like it has been ignored and unmaintained for some time. Email with concerns sent to Stark Parks.

North Coast Inland Trail (Huron County)

Nice West of Norwalk, Horses to the East

September, 2023 by thomasbihn

The trail is mostly really nice with great scenery along the entire thing. West of Norwalk, you will run into few issues, with the dip just to the West of the trailhead having some ruts due to runoff. Going East from Norwalk has some beautiful farmland, but you would be wise to keep an eye down at the trail itself. From ruts and potholes formed to attempts to fill these with sand, along with smelly evidence of horses, there are plenty of things that could quickly wreck your day if you aren't paying close attention. I've tried submitting a review previously, but maybe negative reviews are not authorized? Makes me wonder if any reviews are worth their salt on here honestly.

North Coast Inland Trail (Lorain County)

It's a very nice trail, but hard to find the signs in Elyria

September, 2023 by thomasbihn

I was coming from the West. Once I got to the gateway trail head, there were signs at first to direct where to go, but it didn't prevent me from losing the suggested path. Once I pulled up the map from here, the line didn't align with any trail or road near Cascade park and it had it going right through a very closed, very tall fence at the Elyria Police station. Unless there is an underwound tunnel that I didn't see the entrance to, this map was apparently drawn by someone that hasn't been through there. Maybe it was "this is about where we want it to go" at one point, but don't trust the map.
