The Memorial Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes at St. Michael’s Church in Tarnov, Nebraska.
Based on the French shrine in the Pyrenees Mountains, the Memorial Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was erected to honor the soldiers from Tarnov, Nebraska, who died during World War I. After returning home from fighting overseas, veteran Andrew Jarosz approached Father Knute of St. Michael Catholic Church with the idea, and the two raised the necessary funds. A path leads to the memorial, where a covered fishpond sits in front of a stone wall housing a statue of the Virgin Mary.
