Darby Creek Trail (PA) Description

The Darby Creek Trail is currently in three major sections, all of which follow the Darby Creek through the woods. The middle segment is

Nearly a mile long, the northern segment runs along the bank of the creek through Darby Creek Valley Park and has a gravel, grass and dirt surface. Access the trail at Darby Creek Road, just south of Haverford Reserve. Ending at private property, the trail is an out-and-back and isn't accessible at its southern end.

Following the creek, the 1.26-mile paved middle section winds through the western neighborhoods of Haverford Township, just outside of Philadelphia. Its northern end begins by the hospital on Hilltop Road and its southern end is anchored by Merry Place (600 Glendale Rd, Havertown), a playground and nature area nestled within Glendale Park. At the southern end of this segment in Merry Place, there are two narrow dirt and grass spur trails. This section is wide, level, and paved, which likely makes it accessible for those using mobility devices and strollers.

Winding along the creek through Darby Creek Valley Park and Pilgrim Park, the 0.6-mile southern segment has a gravel, grass, and dirt surface. Access the northern end by the intersection of Burmont Road and Warrior Road and access the southern end at Township Line Road, just south of Bella Vista Road.

This trail is part of a massive effort in the Philadelphia region to create a 750-mile network of interconnected trails called The Circuit.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at Merry Place (600 Glendale Rd); the playground and nature area are part of Glendale Park. Additional parking is available in a small trail parking lot behind the school parking lot and in a lot near the intersection of Burmont Road and Warrior Road. very scenic short trail

While the trail runs through a wooded area along the Darby Creek the scenery is mostly unimpressive and even the sounds of the creek cannot drown out the traffic noise.

nice, short trail

Nice spot to run along the water. Could use some TLC as far as landscaping and clean up.

beautiful peaceful paved trail

Trail runs along Darby Creek, beautiful, peaceful, safe trail.

The trail here is all paved and runs adjacent to a bubbling Creek. It's good for a stroll, particularly with a stroller or dog. The nearby Merry Place playground is well maintained and great for small kids.
