25th Street Hike and Bike Trail Description

Opened in 2015, the 25th Street Hike and Bike Trail runs north-south through Harlingen, connecting several neighborhoods and important destinations in the city, such as Bonham Elementary School. Its northern tip ends close to Texas State Technical College and Valley International Airport.

Running parallel to a canal for much of the way, the paved pathway also offers opportunities for a nature escape in the city and a great spot for birdwatching. Another outdoor asset along the route is the Hugh Ramsey Nature Park at the trail's southern end. The park is home to the Arroyo Colorado Birding Center as the Rio Grande Valley is known as an international birding destination with more than 500 species of birds observed in the area.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the southern in of the trail in the Hugh Ramsey Nature Park (1000 TX-499 Loop).
