Print Friendly MapThe half-mile 8th Street Greenway begins at North Loop Road and follows a tree-lined northwesterly route to Bakers Creek Park, where it connects to a trail of the same name which is part of a regional network called the Carolina Thread Trail.
The greenway is paved, wide and flat through a peaceful area, making for an easy and pleasant trip. The park provides trail goers with restrooms, picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts, a playground and a miniature golf course.
A gated parking lot is available at Bakers Creek Park (1275 West A Street) during park hours.
This .5 mile stretch is part of an entire 2 mile “loop”. This piece it’s self is awesome, but connecting this trail to Bakers Creek Greenway requires walking along a high traffic road.
This is a good start to what could be a complete jogging loop. It's a little short, but connecting with a few neighborhood streets, it makes a good jogging route. The one thing that would improve it would be a few sidewalks along these neighborhood streets. This would to make it a more defined and safe loop. The trail itself is very nice, surrounded by parks and undeveloped land.
