Auburn Valley Trail Description

The Auburn Valley Trail is a paved loop trail that runs through Delaware's Auburn Valley State Park, just south of the Pennsylvania state line. The trail offers a smooth, wide path for cyclists and pedestrians to get outdoors and explore this historic slice of rural Delaware - the park features tours of a former paper mill, and the Marshall Mansion, which dates back to 1897 and now features a museum collection dedicated to trains and Stanley Steam Cars.

Trail users may even get to see one of those unique antiques in action, as the Auburn Valley Trail doubles as a pathway to take the steam cars out for a spin - making for one of the most unusual share-the-trail scenarios you're likely to encounter.

Once you've finished your journey across the lightly wooded rolling hills, the park offers several options for addition recreation by way of the short Trolley Trail and Yorklyn Bridge Trail. Whether you're interested in hands-on exploration of the area's history, or just looking for a nice spot to picnic with the family, the Auburn Valley Trail is sure to have something to offer.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available with the state park entrance fee at the trailhead on Farm Lane, just west from Benge Road before the park office. The main park office can be found at 628 Benge Road in Hockessin.

Lovely Setting

Discovered this park on my way back to Delaware from another hike. Nice local hike or bike (some hills). It’s nice for a local quick afternoon adventure.
