Bakers Creek Greenway Description

The paved, scenic Bakers Creek Greenway follows its eponymous creek, connecting two parks in central North Carolina's Kannapolis. The trail is part of the Carolina Thread Trail, a network of pathways across 15 counties in North and South Carolina.

At its southern end, Village Park offers a playground, covered shelters, the Rotary Express Train, and a splash pad. Nearby, you'll also find the Cannon Memorial YMCA, offering additional recreational amenities.

Other highlights of the greenway include the Kannapolis Cemetery and the GI Memorial House Museum, which dates back to 1945. The home (located at 905 King Street), was constructed to aid with the housing shortage during that time period; to learn more or to schedule a tour, visit the Kannapolis History Associates website (link at right).

The trail ends in Bakers Creek Park, which has restrooms, picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts, a playground and a miniature golf course. Nearby, at West A Street, you can continue your journey on the half-mile 8th Street Greenway to North Loop Road.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the southern end of the trail in Village Park (700 West C Street) and the Cannon Memorial YMCA (101 YMCA Drive). At its northern end, Bakers Creek Park (1275 West A Street) offers a gated parking lot that is only open during park hours.

Bakers Creek Greenway Reviews

Great stroll

Great trail but could get confusing when it connects to other trails. Overall great experience and environment!

not really a trail

This is not really a trail it’s more of a walk through a neighborhood you legit walk through streets at some point to make it all the way around

A new favorite!

I love this trail! I’ll definitely be frequenting it more often. Perfect for kids! It connects through 3 other trails & takes you through multiple parks.

Good place

Nice place to walk dog. People are friendly. Lots of families and bikes.
