Big Rapids Riverwalk Description

The Big Rapids Riverwalk travels alongside the scenic Muskegon River and connects downtown Big Rapids with several recreational amenities, including Hemlock Park, Northend Riverside Park, and Swede Hill Park. The paved pathway includes four fishing platforms, the trail's biggest draw; other outdoor attractions such as canoeing, tubing, and picnicking are also available nearby.

On its northern end, the trail connects to Michigan's second longest rail-trail, White Pine Trail State Park, which spans 93 miles from just north of Grand Rapids to Cadillac.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at River Street Park, Hemlock Park (downtown), Swede Hill Park (Baldwin Street Bridge), and Northend Riverside Park (Trestle Bend Drive).

Big Rapids Riverwalk Reviews

My favorite in big rapids

This is my favorite trail to walk in big rapids. The river and a constant change of scenery break up the walk and make it go by quickly. Also easier to bring the kids and always end up at a park!

Great Starting Point fro White Pines Trail

The Riverwalk trail connects several parks along the Muskegon river in Big Rapids. It has 3 connector trails to the White Pines rail trail.

A small section under the M-20 bridge is not paved, but everything north is smooth and scenic. Any of the parks make nice trail head parking with amenities to access the White Pines trail which is paved from Big Rapids north to Reed City.

Big Rapids Riverwalk

Great bike ride. Easy grades and access. Very well maintained. Beautiful and unique section of the Muskegon River.
Kudos to those who made it happen and maintain it.
Big Rapids should be proud of this.
