Biscayne-Everglades Greenway Description

Once completed, the Biscayne-Everglades Greenway will be the first greenway to connect two national parks, Biscayne Bay National Park and Everglades National Park. The entire trail will stretch 42 and pass through the city of Homestead, but for now, Section 1 of the trail is a short but scenic, 3.2 mile stretch from E. Mowry Dr. to Tallahassee Rd is open.

Everglades National Park protects a tropical wilderness of wetlands and forests, and a number of animal species including the Florida panther, American crocodile, West Indian manatee, and sea turtles. In the park, visitors can enjoy camping and numerous nature trails.

Biscayne National Park preserves the waters of Biscayne Bay, its barrier reefs, and mangrove forests and swamps on shore. The park offers a variety of recreational options, including camping, hiking, snorkeling, and paddling.

The open portion of the trail uses the South Florida Water Management District right-of-way and winds its way alongside canals in between various subdivisions. Both bike and electric bikes can used on the trail, and can be rented at Electribike

Parking and Trail Access

There is no direct parking available along the trail. However, Miami-Dade county does have a bus system that runs routes through Homestead, including route 35 which runs from West Perrine to Homestead. See more information here.
