Black Arroyo Trail Description

The Black Arroyo Trail, completed in 2015, provides a lovely scenic pathway through the dry sage brush and open space that surrounds the channel formed by the arroyo. Offering about a mile-long trail for walking and cycling, the trail features several informational signs along the route to inform trail users about the natural environment - keep your eye out for burrowing owls and other desert wildlife along your journey - and features two bridges over the arroyo, including one that leads right to Maggie Cordova Elementary School, giving kids and parents a convenient means of walking or biking to school.

The trail begins in the north at Southern Boulevard, where a sidepath trail helps allow you to continue east or west. Heading through the natural space formed around the earthen arroyo, the trail comes to an end at 19th Street in a neighborhood that is just beginning to be developed as part of this rapidly-growing suburb.

Parking and Trail Access

A small parking lot for the trail is available at the intersection of 14th Avenue and 19th Street, just across from the pedestrian bridge. To reach the lot, take 15th Street south from Southern Boulevard.
