Brickyard Trail offers a pleasant north-south route through the Town of Brighton, which sits on the southeastern outskirts of Rochester. Its name is a nod to the town's brickmaking industry dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the trail runs through a former clay mine.
The route begins at the Sandra L. Frankel Nature Park, across from city hall and the library, and winds south through woodlands and wetlands for just shy of a mile. The stone-dust pathway ends at Buckland Park, which offers many recreational amenities, including athletic fields, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, and a large picnic pavilion.
Parking is available on the south end of the trail off Westfall Road; the trailhead is adjacent to The Landing of Brighton, a senior assisted-living facility. You can also park and access restrooms in Buckland Park (1341 Westfall Road).
Access the north end of the trail at Sandra L. Frankel Nature Park; parking is available across the street at city hall and the library (2300 Elmwood Avenue).
Beautiful
Nice easy walk, wide trail, kids, bikes, scooters, dogs. Pleasant!
It was my first time going on this trail and despite it's relatively short length, the trail has a lot of beautiful creatures as well as scenery. The trail was packed with people and the trail is very wide. The trail reminded me of Montezuma Refuge. Totally do it again. There is one trail that branches off but I wasn't too sure whether or not it was a mtn. biking trail.
Very clean! Perfect for a spring walk with dogs. Nice views!
