Bruce G. Rinker Greenway Description

The Bruce G. Rinker Greenway offers a north-south walking and biking route through Mayfield Village, a suburb of Cleveland. The paved pathway connects Mayfield Center Elementary School, the community's public library, a neighborhood pool, and the Village Center, as well as the Grove Amphitheatre, a popular entertainment venue in the summer.

Opened in 2014, the pathway was originally known simply as the "Greenway Trail" before being renamed after a longtime mayor of the village in 2016. It begins on the south end of town adjacent to the fire station and winds north, popping in and out of the trees, behind commercial buildings, through a wetland preserve, and past athletic fields.

For a longer stroll or roll, travelers can connect to the 4.2-mile North Chagrin Reservation All Purpose Trail to access the scenic park and enjoy additional outdoor amenities such as wildlife viewing, golfing, horseback riding, picnicking, and sledding.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available in Wiley Park (610 Som Center Road), the Mayfield Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library (500 Som Center Road), and Parkview Pool (425 North Commons Blvd.).

Great for Inline Skating

There’s a few hills but not too bad! Really flat and smooth.

A Well Designed Trail That I Wish Was Longer

I rode 5.97 miles on an out-and-back ride on the Bruce G. Rinker Greenway through the Progressive Insurance Headquarters campus in Mayfield, Ohio. This is a very flat, wide asphalt pathway through a parklike setting.

Beside riding by the numerous Progressive Insurance buildings, you also pass by athletic fields, the Parkview Pool, the Mayfield Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, the Grove Amphitheater, and part of an industrial/commercial park before ending up on the south end of the trail at the First Responders Memorial Trailhead at the Mayfield Village Fire Department. Since there is lots of recreational and business sites along this trail, the trail is busy, so don't expect to post record speeds while riding this trail.

Combine this trail with the All Purpose Trail in the Cleveland Metroparks' North Chagrin Reservation [across SOM Center Road (Rt. 91)] from the Progressive Insurance campus for a much longer ride.
