This trail and bike-ped bridge are named for a La Crosse resident and trail lover, whose independent efforts to create a walking path in the 1950s would pave the way for this trail. The hard surface trail starts on Gillette Street in the North Side neighborhood, and travels north nestled between residential areas and the active BNSF rail yard. A bike-ped bridge was installed spanning the rail yard and wetland, stitching together neighborhoods on either side. The 600-foot long steel bridge was awarded a 2016 American Public Works Association prize for "excellence in demonstrating creativity, ingenuity and efficiency in the delivery of public works projects that have a profound impact on the community". Across the bridge, trail users can follow the sidewalk/ bike lanes on Enterprise Avenue 0.6 miles to the Great River State Trail.
The trail's start point is located at approximately 1604 Gillette Street, La Crosse. There is no dedicated parking for this trail. Residents of the adjacent neighborhoods can access the trail on foot or by bike.
