Cambridge Greenway hugs the Lamoille River through the village of Jeffersonville in northern Vermont, about 30 miles northeast of Burlington. It is a four-season trail, popular with cross-country skiers and snowmobilers in the winter.
Although less than 2 miles, the unpaved trail offers pleasant views, including the Poland Covered Bridge at its eastern end. The bridge, built in 1887, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The route follows the Lamoille Valley Railroad and the trail part of a larger developing network called the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which will one day span 93 miles across northern Vermont.
A small parking lot is available mid-trail along Route 15.
We.ve gone to the Trail just past Jeff a few times. It's flat but we are able to get the dogs out and we can do 11 miles round trip. We start at the pull off parking, right where the trail crosses the road and turn around at the snow mobile parking area behind The Cupboard. The corners along the fence, behind the construction place, is a little sketchy. Always worried about meeting a snow mobil head on there, as it's a little tight. But, we keep our ears open and try to be careful. I have some nice pics of the dogs running the trail.
