Charles Bailey Trail Description

Traversing the Delaware/Pennsylvania border along the scenic White Clay Creek, the Charles Bailey Trail offers a pleasant, wooded hike for those willing to travel somewhat off the beaten path. The trail follows the course of the creek along its eastern bank, giving trail users the chance to glimpse herons, frogs, deer, and any number of other creatures that make their home in the area. A portion of the trail follows an old railroad grade which once carried trains on both sides of the creek - the trail ends in the north at a junction with the PennDel Trail, which utilizes the corridor along the opposite bank.

Parking and Trail Access

In Pennsylvania, parking is available at a lot on London Tract Road just south of Good Hope Road for the northern end of the PennDel Trail. Head south on that trail for 0.7 mile to reach the junction with the Charles Bailey Trail.

In Delaware, parking is available with an entrance fee near the southern end of the trail at the White Clay Creek State Park office, located at the intersection of Thompson Station Road and Chambers Rock Road. The trail begins about a half-mile north along Thompson Station Road.
