Concord Road Trail Description

The Concord Road Trail is a hard-surface hike and bike path located alongside the road of the same name in Smyrna, Georgia. The trail begins at the intersection of Concord and Atlanta Roads, where it also meets the Smyrna-Atlanta Road Trail. The trail setting switches between busy commercial centers and quiet neighborhoods of single-family homes. South of the East-West Connector, the trail enters Heritage Park where it meets the famous 62-mile Silver Comet Trail.

Expect plenty of road crossings and some rolling terrain along the three-mile route - and don't hold your breath for much natural scenery - but the trail makes for a nice link between the heart of Smyrna and the extremely popular Silver Comet Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

Park at the Silver Comet Trail / Concord Road Trailhead just south of where Concord Road passes the East-West Connector.

CobbLinc buses run along the northern portion of Concord Road along the trail. Access to the trail in Smyrna is also available via the Mountain to River Trail from the north and east, and the Atlanta Road Trail from the south.

Concord Road Trail Reviews

Good trail but with some hazards

This trail starts on a difficult uphill at a parking lot just off the SIlver Comet Trail. The trail is well paved and has a lot of small hills and requires the rider to stay alert, as it is basically a wide sidewalk which crosses a lot of driveways and the entry/exits of a lot of subdivisions. Most crossings are not well marked with bike crossing signs for the car traffic or stop/yield signs for the bike traffic. The trail also has several utility poles in the middle of the trail to watch out for.

This trail crosses back and forth over Concord Road several times at traffic light regulated crosswalks, where it is best to wait for the light and stay in the crosswalk, as Concord Road normally a very busy, high speed road. Last time I rode this trail in 2018, most crosswalks did not have buttons to trigger the lights. Be especially careful of Southbound traffic turning left off of Concord Road onto North Cooper Lake Road. This V intersection is especially dangerous to bike traffic. The trail does connect directly to another trail that will take you most of the way to Truist Park, where the Atlanta Braves now play.
