The Crosstown Trail in Crystal River is a historic railway line that has been converted into a multiuse trail stretching nearly two miles. The concrete trail is used for walking, biking and hiking. A highlight of the trail is the old Crystal River Depot near the north end. The old train station, with train cars on display outside the building, is now an events space owned by the Lions Club.
The trail continues south on the shaded corridor. Beyond 3rd Street, the trail begins to parallel 2nd court, which is landscaped and lined with trees. The final stretch of the trail sits on the west side of Three Sisters Spring Trail (a street) leading up to W. Fort Island Trail.
The trail continues south, and there are numerous street crossings, including a major one at US 19. Cross at marked crossing points and do so with caution.
Public parking can be found on Crystal Street, across from the historic Crystal River Station.
While the trail does have some traffic intersection crossings, it’s nice for a short ride through town. The trail itself is paved and provides some shade and park benches. We got off the trail a couple times to explore nearby neighborhoods and other attractions.
You have to cross several streets - including a highway, during this brief trail. First half of it was not enjoyable at all, so we abandoned it and rode through town in a safer manner
