Devil's Hole Trail Description

The Devil's Hole Trail offers a moderately challenging hike within Devil's Hole State Park. The rail-trail follows the route of a former trolley line built in the Niagara Gorge in 1895. Railroad service ended in 1935 after a rockslide severely damaged the route.

The wooded, unpaved pathway is just over a mile one way and includes a spectacular overlook of the Devil's Hole Rapids. Note that to access the trail, you will climb down a stone staircase into the gorge.

For more adventure, two other short trails are nearby: the Great Gorge Railway Trail and the Niagara Scenic Parkway Trail. Both are accessible from the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center.

Parking and Trail Access

The trail is located in Niagara Falls within Devil's Hole State Park, which is off the Robert Moses Parkway at the NY 104 exit.

Devil's Hole Trail Reviews

good trail

It's good trail to complement the other trails. Also, beautiful view.

Ongiara Trail

" This trail is rich with historical signifigance and natural splendor. I was dissapointed when I didn't find any pictures of this trail in my search for more information.
This trail is a well kept secret in the Niagara Falls and Buffalo area. It is never crowded and offers some of the best fishing in Western New York.
The only drawback is the recent appearence of the Niagara River Jet Boat tour. While trying to observe the natural force of the rapids peacefully, a large, loud, jetboat appears carrying about fiftty screaming people and one tour guide with a megaphone desroying the solitude and the beauty, of an otherwise fantastic trail. Thankfully, this problem only exists for the summer months.
Please come down and see this remarkable trail and pick up a beer can on your way out, thanks for reading."
