The Dogwood Springs Walking Trail meanders through the city of Siloam Springs in west Arkansas, near the Oklahoma border. The trail consists of 8-foot wide asphalt sections connected by sidewalk. The east segment features a loop around the baseball park, emerging on the west corner of the park and following Sager Creek down to Washington Street. The central segment runs through Bob Henry Park, also along the creek and downstream of the dammed part of the river (you can get the best views of the reservoir at City Park, across University Road from Bob Henry Park). This segment of the trail is scenic, sticking close to the creek while allowing users to hop between a range of recreational facilities including tennis courts, a skate park, a dog park, a playground and picnic tables.
A short distance away on North Dogwood Street is the longest trail segment. The trail circles around the John Brown University campus through the riparian woodland, and then continues south along the edge of Oak Hills Cemetery and Siloam Springs Middle School campus, ending at Carl Street in a residential area.
While the sidewalk connections might be a challenge to navigate, keep a look-out for the Dogwood Springs lamp-post banners to help orient you. Also see the trail map for the full route.
At the east end, you can park at the James Butts Baseball Complex (1231 N Lincoln St, Siloam Springs). The trail emerges from the park at the intersection of Lincoln Street with Sager Creek Drive.
Parking for Bob Henry Park can be found on Benton Street on the northeast corner of the park.
There's parking on West Valley Drive (John Brown University) near the tennis courts (just north of the West Valley Drive/ Dogwood Street junction).
It was a hot and humid day, but this shady trail along the water provided us with a nice setting for a relaxed ride. The town and university take good care of the area facilitates.
This trail has a beautiful stretch that winds along Sager Creek lots of benches to sit and enjoy views of the creek. Great place for dogs and the dog park area is really nice.
I like this trail a lot. It was fun and easy to do with my kids.
