Draper Canal Trail Description

The Draper Canal Trail is a multiuse path in Draper, Utah which follows the path of a historic irrigation channel. The canal was part of a system of ditches in the Salt Lake Valley built to deliver mountain water for farming. They went out of use in 1994 when they were replaced by a pressurized irrigation system. This trail sits in the historic corridor of the old canal and connects to the Porter Rockwell Trail at both its north and south ends. A disconnected half-mile segment is found north of the main trail and runs from Deer Hollow Park to Relation Street.

The Draper Canal Trail is asphalt although there are accommodations for horseback riders to enjoy the path too. The trail weaves through residential neighborhoods, parks and schools in the city. There are numerous street crossings, and gates at each access point. The trail is flat, but there is a steep incline on the connection to the Porter Rockwell at the trail's south endpoint.
