Duncan Creek Trail Description

Chippewa Falls’ Duncan Creek Trail—also known as the Duncan Creek Parkway Trail—is a scenic loop around the city. While the vast majority of the trail is off-road, some portions are actually signed on-road routes on low-stress roads or bike lanes with adjacent sidewalks.

The trail provides a critical connection between the city and the Old Abe State Trail, which extends north nearly 20 miles to the small city of Cornell. While those more interested in a scenic ride or run might want to take the longer trail, the Duncan Creek Trail does offer its own fair share of scenery. In particular, the segment between State Route 124/Bridge Street and Pumphouse Road features amazing views of the Chippewa River.

Beer aficionados will want to visit the original Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company brewery, located where the trail moves away from Jefferson Avenue. Stop in for a free tour and visit the adjacent Leinie Lodge for samples. Those with children might want to visit the Irvine Park Zoo instead; the entrance is also along the trail on Jefferson Avenue (just north of the brewery).

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the Duncan Creek Trail is available at the lot for Chippewa County’s Riverview Reserve on Beach Drive. Additional parking can be found on city streets.

Duncan Creek Trail Reviews

Good for bike and walk

As a nearby resident I’ve been walking and biking this trail for many years. Overall the trail is in very good shape and has been maintained fairly well. There are some sections along the Chippewa River Crossing that are a little bit rough. However if you know the side roads you can easily get around these points. There are some areas where you will need to be part of traffic so you need to be careful with those. Otherwise a well thought out a nice loop.

Nice loop trail

Nice easy ride. Very enjoyable

Nice Loop Trail

Pretty fun little loop. There are some great views of the Chippewa River and some woods on the northeastern part of the loop. Also some interesting things to see in Chippewa Falls on the western part. Pavement is a bit rough at times and some sections aren't super well marked, but still a fun place to skate or bike.

Nice trail!

While I was on the vehicle traffic portion of this trail, I was nearly taken out by 2 different people on their cell phones. Same as with people on the trail talking on the phone!
It is a very nice trail to ride after the traffic has died down a bit. A very easy ride.
I like that it connects with Old Abe.
Thanks to everyone for the hard work keeping the trails clean and safe for everyone.
