East Fork Mine Creek Trail Description

The East Fork Mine Trail is an multipurpose pathway in Raleigh, NC. The trail has an asphalt surface and provides a close-to-home jaunt into nature for the residents of the surrounding neighborhoods. Walkers, cyclists, and folks with their dogs are welcome on the trail. The trail is part of Raleigh's Capital Area Greenbelt Trail system.

The trail exists in two segments connected by sidewalks. Beginning on Clear Brook Drive at its north end, the paved trail follows the East Fork Mine Creek downstream until Newton Road, with one street crossing in-between, at Old Deer Trail in the Summerfield North subdivision. To connect to the next off-street segment, trail users can turn right onto the Newton Road sidewalk, then left on Six Forks Road for 0.3-mile followed by a right turn onto Longstreet Drive to Bent Creek Drive where the trail restarts.

From there, the trail follows the creek through the riparian woods for another half-mile, stopping at the confluence of the East Fork with Mine Creek and its own accompanying trail branching north to Sawmill Road and south to Shelley Lake.

Additionally, from the north terminus on Clear Brook Drive, users can access another trail in the Capital Area Greenways trail system, the Honeycutt Creek Trail. Take Clear Brook Dr. north to Mourning Dove Road and then turn left on that street, followed by a right turn onto Running Cedar Trail towards Strickland Road. Cross Strickland and head north on Carriage Tour Lane to reach the off-street segment of the Honeycutt Creek Trail at Chatterson Drive.

East Fork Mine Creek Trail Reviews

I found this trail in our neighborhood and it is the perfect path to escape the sun or for an evening stroll. Not difficult. The honeysuckle will transport you back in time to your childhood. Great for biking and walking.
