Grand Haven Waterfront Trail Reviews

Don’t bother

Too many walkers oblivious to anyone around them. Far better trails in the area.

Revisited September 2023

It's been a few years and it was nice to visit Grand Haven and spend time biking around town. You can bike on several bike paths in town, Grand Haven is very biker friendly. You can take your bike to the end of the Lighthouse pier. There weren't many people there this particilar day....mid week and weather not real nice. very busy on the weekends.

Renovated Grand Haven Pier

Recently re-opened in August, 2018 after 2 years of renovations on Grand Havens South Pier Catwalk.
Along the pier you can bike or walk.
The trail runs from Grand Haven State Park, the Lighthouse Pier and into and past Downtown Grand Haven.
Many shops and places to eat along the trail. Some on-road sections but there is a large berm to accommodate cyclists.
Be sure to take in a sunset from the Lighthouse pier over Lake Michigan.
There are two Lighthouses along this pier.

Beautiful casual ride!

Note to riders; Must ride slow and walk often as this path is full of pedestrians on a sunny day. Beautiful beach and amazing shopping.

Nice trail.

Nice paved trail along the water-Grand River and Lake Michigan. You will pass the Coast Guard. You will see the Grand Haven Lighthouse. Eateries and shops along the way. Accommodations in Grand Haven. Campground in Grand Haven as well.

We did this trail several times (by bike, and on foot) during the week when we stayed in Grand Haven. During the day wasn't too crowded but in the evening there were more people on it.

I am thinking that weekends and during the Summer it might be more crowded.

The trail goes by some shops right along the trail if you want to pick up some Grand River attire (t-shirts/hoodies). This is at the end farthest from the Lighthouse. The town end. See photo's

Awesome sunsets. The pier gets pretty wet so you may want to park your bike at the beginning and walk out.

Nice trail

This is a very nice trail for sightseeing along the Grand River in Grand Haven.
Western half along the Grand River channel can be very crowded on weekends and holidays and should be avoided with bikes and other wheeled devices.

Beautiful trail

"This is a beautiful trail. That said, however, this trail is not great for in-liners. There is a lot of sand and homeowners that water the trail with sprinklers. The trail is not cleaned often. It's suitable for slower bike riders."
