About an hour northwest of Chicago, the beautiful Grant Woods Forest Preserve spans more than 1,000 acres, offering an outdoor respite of prairie, woodlands and marshes. The crushed limestone pathway runs north-south through the park, providing an opportunity to experience these landscapes by bike, foot or ski. At the southern end of the trail, cross W. Rollins Road to venture onto the Chain O' Lakes Bike Path, a 3-mile rail-trail heading west to Fox Lake.
Grant Woods Forest Preserve is located in Lake Villa, bordered by State Route 59 on the west and by Fairfield Road on the east. Within the preserve, there is parking in three areas (north to south): on the south side of Grand Avenue (SR 132), on the south side of Monaville Road, and south of W. Rollins Road.
