Greens Bayou Greenway Description

The Greens Bayou Greenway threads a green corridor, tracing both banks of its namesake bayou in northern Houston. The paved pathway is bordered by residential neighborhoods and connects Tom Wussow Park—which offers playgrounds, covered picnic tables, and a YMCA—and City View Park.

The trail is part of a regional effort called Bayou Greenways 2020, spearheaded by the Houston Parks Board, which aims to have 150 miles of greenway trails running throughout Houston by the year 2020.

There are five disconnected segments that currently make up the trail, the first two follow Greens Bayou through the Greater Greenspoint Area. The third and fourth segments meander through East Houston and through the Waddell Greenspace Area and the Fifth segment runs from Strickland Park to the Thomas Bell Foster Park in the Northshore area of Houston.

Parking and Trail Access

There are various parking options for the Greens Bayou Greenway including at Thomas Bell Foster Park,
12895 Greens Bayou St, at the Waddell Greenspace along N. Green River Dr., at Jack Drake Park at 641 Bradfield Rd, and at Tom Wussow Park, 500 Greens Rd.

Greens Bayou Greenway Reviews

Unsafe connection from east side to west side

There is an east side of 45 section and a west side of 45. Unfortunately, there is no safe connection between the two sections. You need to ride the 45 access roads on each side, both busy and no bike lanes or sidewalks. Not recommended. And I did not traverse 12 miles of trails. Disappointed. There is potential.

a lil rough

Trail not complete

Greens Bayou Bike Ride

This trail is really better than my rating. I gave it this rating because the trail is not complete from both sides of I-45 North. The trail has 4 parks on its path which includes Rockstar Energy Bike Park, Tom Wussow Park, City View Park and Jack Drake Park. I recommend this trail and I wish more of the community take advantage of it. Other than that, the park division needs to finish or construct the trail to go under 45 and the service road to truly complete this trail 100 percent.

Not many walk this trail very peaceful. Just need more light
