Grimshaw Lake Watchable Wildlife Trail Description

The Grimshaw Lake Watchable Wildlife Trail is part of the Amargosa River Natural Area, administered by the Bureau of Land Management. The gravel trail follows an easy, flat route along the abandoned corridor of the historic Tonopah and Tidewater ("T&T") Railroad, built around the turn of the 20th century.

The trail passes through the open Tecopa Basin, where wildlife flourishes, particularly bird species. Nearby you'll find Tecopa Hot Springs County Park.

Parking and Trail Access

Access to the southern end of the trail from a dirt road that turns west from Tecopa Hot Springs Road, about halfway between the communities of Tecopa and Tecopa Hot Springs. Look for the sign for Grimshaw Lake Watchable Wildlife Site and take the dirt road around a small hill; park next to the elevated railroad right-of-way.
