Guffey Railroad Bridge Trail Description

Guffey Railroad Bridge in Celebration Park—Idaho's only archeological park—is a historical crossing over Idaho's Snake River. The bridge was constructed in 1897 to carry ore from Silver City to Nampa for smelting. Now renovated, the bridge allows access via foot and horseback between the south side of the river in Owyhee County and the north side in Canyon County.

While the bridge is undoubtedly the most striking feature of the Guffey Railroad Bridge Trail, the natural surface path continues east along the Snake River to a trailhead near Celebration Park's Visitor Center. Three fishing access points can be found along this stretch. Back at park headquarters, visitors may want to hike the Petroglyphs Trail, which explores the park's ancient rock engravings.

Parking and Trail Access

To access Celebration Park from Nampa, take State Route 45 south. Just before the highway crosses the Snake River, turn left onto Ferry Road. Take the second right onto Hill Road and then a right onto Sinker Road. You will see the Guffey Railroad Bridge where the road meets the Snake River. Parking is located adjacent to the bridge.

From the bridge, take a left to reach Celebration Park's Visitor Center, where more parking and restrooms are available. A small fee is required to park.
