Guyton Main Street Rail Trail Description

The Guyton Main Street Rail Trail runs through the heart of Guyton, Georgia, connecting much of the town's numeric grid of streets with public amenities such as City Hall and Guyton Elementary School. The trail, which actually consists of two parallel 6-foot-wide asphalt paths, extends .75 mile from the red caboose located just north of 3rd Avenue to the concrete Pilgrim Park walking trail at Simmons Street. Occupying the median of Central Boulevard/SR 17 for most of its route, the rail trail also passes right by the front door of the town's post office.

The landscaped trail is located along a portion of the abandoned corridor of the Central of Georgia Railway, which stopped running trains on the line in the early 1960s. The Guyton Main Street Rail Trail has already proven extremely popular among inhabitants of the small town since its dedication in 2012. Residents use it for both recreation and transportation, as well as utilizing the spacious rail trail as the site of the community's annual 'Sale Along the Trail' event.

Parking and Trail Access

Access to the trail is available off of Georgia SR 17/Central Boulevard in downtown Guyton. Parking can be found in between SR 17 and West Central Boulevard near Guyton's City Hall. Additional parking is available at the northern trailhead between Gracen Road and Simmons Street adjacent to the Pilgrim Park walking trail.

Guyton Main Street Rail Trail Reviews

March 30, 2013

Nice trail. Level, no real inclines or declines. Trail is asphalt and is well maintained. I know this heading says .75 miles, my Google Tracks showed 2.1 miles round trip from caboose trail head (including the Pilgrim Trail). My 6 year old rode his bike, wife and I walked. He loved it. Easy for him to ride. Great for stretching out legs if on a road trip through the area, or for regular dailly excersize. Four stars due to no outstanding scenery. Does have some historic houses visible along trail, and is very nicely landscaped.
