Print Friendly MapHinshaw Greenway is a 1.7 mile north-south recreational trail in Cary, NC. The trail runs riparian forest, and acts as a conduit for children to travel safely between the play areas within MacDonald’s and Marla Dorrel parks.
Kick-off your journey at the trail’s northern endpoint at Greenwood Circle and head south. As you go, you’ll notice Lynn’s run weaving through the woods, sometimes visible and sometimes obscured by the trees. Past Seabrook Ave. is MacDonald’s Woods Park. Amenities here include a shaded playground and basketball slab. The trail remains close to the eastern border of the park. The next crossing is via a pedestrian overpass over US 1/64, where an art installation called Bowstring Vines, so look out for that. The greenway continues south, intersecting with Piney Plains Greenway which tears off to the east. Marla Dorrel Park, along Thurston Dr., is the southern terminus of the trail. This park features a unique and engaging play space designed to cater to children of all ages and abilities.
You can park at Marla Dorrel Park (11 Thurston Dr.) The trail starts near the bike rack. You can also park along Greenwood Circle and Seawoods Ave.

We started at the Kids Together playground. We walked all the way down and back. We took a pit stop at MacDonald Woods Park on the way back which is right next to the trail. There were areas of incline and even terrain. My 8 and 10 year old had no difficulty with the inclines. was shaded the majority of the walk.
