Hobble Creek Bike Path Description

It's really the dramatic setting of this trail that makes it worth the trip. The trail is located in the Provo suburb of Springfield, at the foothills of the Wasatch Range of the Rockies. The mountains rise to meet you as you head east, making for countless postcard perfect views. The Hobble Creek Bike Path begins in a suburban neighborhood, so that it intersects with numerous driveways as it parallels Canyon Drive. The ride east is all uphill but the slope is gentle and pretty doable for different levels of riders. The further you get, the more sparse the houses become so that by the time you get to Wayne Bartholomew Park, there are few houses whose roofs can be seen peaking above the vegetation line. This initial stretch of trail lacks shade.

Continuing on, the trail enters the Hobble Creek Wildlife Management Area. This has significantly more trees and intermittent views of the creek. A bridge takes riders over the creek and further from the road but rejoins Canyon Drive at the west end of Hobble Creek Golf Course. Here the trail crosses to the north side of the road, and ascends above it. It follows the Left Fork Hobble Road, coming to an end at Rotary Park.

It's best to start west to east if you are going out-and-back so that your ride back is downhill. You can choose to do the entire 9.2 mile round trip or simply do whatever distance you can manage. May and September are some of the more pleasant times to enjoy the ride.

Parking and Trail Access
