Honeycutt Creek Greenway Trail Description

The Honeycutt Trail extends from Raven Ridge Road to Strickland Road in Raleigh, NC. The trail consists of two segments: between Raven Ridge Road and Durant Road, the trail is unpaved, though well-maintained, offering a quiet ramble through the woods. It begins near the south shore of Falls Lake, linking to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.  Be aware that the trail passes through state game lands, where seasonal bow hunting is allowed. Blaze orange vests to use and return are provided in boxes located at each end of the rustic trail. Also, this segment is hiking only; no bikes allowed.

The second segment is a multi-use pathway continuing south from Durant Road. Here, the trail surface consists of asphalt first, then boardwalk, running along Honeycutt Road and then snaking its way through Honeycutt Park. An underpass delivers trail users safely across Interstate 540. The boardwalk continues through the woodland with glimpses of homes visible through the foliage. The trail ends at Chatterson Drive, but a sidewalk adjacent Carriage Tour Lane connects to Strickland Road. The East Fork Mine Creek Trail can be found south of Strickland Road.

Honeycutt Creek Greenway Trail Reviews

Great hike with wildlife

I really enjoyed this hike. I started at Honeycutt Park on the paved portion. Went north to the end. If you want to go farther, cross the road and there is another trail to the left. Saw three deer, tons of squirrels, and some fish in the creek. Some short steep hills and bridges across the creeks. Part of the trail is in a hunting zone, so wear orange in hunting season.

Decent

This trail is in a good location and has decent views. The only things I don’t enjoy are the hills and how quickly the trail ends. Overall good trail, but not my first pick for a long run.
