Hunter Regional Trail Description

The Hunter Regional Trail (HRT) is a network of rail-trails that run along a former railroad corridor in Hunter, NY. Currently, there are 6.1 miles of open trail in the hamlet of Haines Falls, the village of Tannersville, and just east of downtown Hunter. The 2.7-mile Tannersville Bike Path (also known as the Huckleberry Multi-Use Trail), the 2-mile Kaaterskill Rail Trail, and the 1.4-mile Hunter Branch Rail Trail offer scenic routes through the woods. The official opening for newest section of the Hunter Branch Rail Trail will be on Celebrate Trails Day/Earth Day (April 22, 2023)!

The HRT network is managed by the Hunter Area Trail Coalition (HATC), which was formed in 2016 from the Kaaterskill Rail Trail Committee. The HATC's goal is to connect nearly 11 miles of trails from Kaaterskill Falls and the New York State North South Lake Campground through the Town of Hunter to create a cohesive trail network.
