Print Friendly MapClocking in at over four and a half miles, the ITC Corridor Trail in Novi is a fantastic recreational asset for the community, providing a paved pathway that connects neighborhoods and recreation sites south of town with destinations along the main drag to the north. Finished in the fall of 2019, the trail makes use of a power-line utility corridor, converting the land from a purely functional use into one that accommodates exercise, recreation, and transportation as well.
Starting in the south, the trail begins along Eight Mile Road with a trailhead at the ITC Community Sports Park. The tree-lined corridor through the park provides a nice bit of shade along the outskirts of the sports fields and a small pond, before the trail starts heading northeast along the utility corridor. Despite the presence of the power lines, the trail still offers plenty of natural beauty, running largely interrupted by road crossings or other impediments as it makes its way up into Novi, coming to an end just south of the large hospital campus along Beck Road.
The entirety of the trail is paved with the exception of a lovely 2000-foot wooden boardwalk section. In the north, the trail provides a nice connection to a local middle school and elementary school, as well as Wildlife Woods Park - speaking of wildlife, you'll definitely want to keep your eye out for deer, foxes, and other critters that make their home in the wooded areas along the trail. A fantastic addition to this southeast Michigan community, the ITC Corridor Trail gives residents and visitors the chance to get out and explore the natural beauty of the area all year-round.
Parking for the trail is available at the trailhead in the ITC Community Sports Park, located at 51000 Eight Mile Road between Garfield Road and Napier Road. Restrooms and a bike repair station are also available seasonally at the park; consult the official trail site for more information.
Recently rode this path for the first time. We enjoyed a nice quiet ride. Not much traffic noise and only had a few pedestrians. The north end up takes you up to Beck Rd. and Grandriver. It appears there will be more paved pathway soon.
Rode from 8 to 10 Mile rd today. Well maintained and easy ride. Very open so might be hot ride in summer.
Very nice ride with some natural areas. Subdivision contractor should be fined for disrupting the trail for so long. Apparently, it’s been going on for over a year. The biggest issue is the contractor has cut off the asphalt where they are working and there’s a drop off of nearly a foot that you don’t notice when going south until you’re right at the end of end. You have to go around on mud/grass (if you see it in time)!
To to the proximity we Love to spend quality time on this trail with family and friends. It was a blessing during Covid time to spend outdoors and keep us healthy. Kudos to Novi city and ITC for bringing it to our community and to help make Novi better place to live.
Ran it yesterday for the first time, parked at the ITC park and ran up to Providence Hospital. FYI, the whole thing was open - just need to take the dirt road at 9 Mile and Garfield to catch the rest of the trail. Nice trail.
Just wanted to give an update on the last review from July - the trail is open as of October 2020. You have to run on the dirt roads at 9 Mile and Garfield but no issues this morning.
We had pleasant biking experience here. It is good for mild exercise and you can observe good nature and houses around you.
I have ridden this trail a couple days in a row now. It’s very smooth and the scenery is varied enough to keep your interest. There is a small section at 9 mile that you have to make a little jog, but it’s more than passable. There is a pavilion at ITC Park with bathrooms and shade for those hot days. All rider abilities can do this trail because it’s very flat.
July2, 2020. ITC Corridor Trail is blocked 1 mile north of the start at 8 Mile Road. New subdivision development. It may months before the trail is opened up again.
Easy to walk paved trail. Pleasant trail adjacent to a neighborhood.
